About WWTA
Formed in 1983, the Western Wood Truss Association of Alberta (WWTA) represents Alberta's truss manufacturing industry. On behalf of members across the province, WWTA advocates for effective policies and regulations to support competitive and sustainable growth in truss manufacturing. Through collaboration with government and stakeholders, WWTA works to reduce regulatory barriers, streamline processes, and promote innovative solutions to address challenges impacting the industry.
The Western Wood Truss Association of Alberta is a charter member of the Canadian Wood Truss Association, a partner with the Canadian Wood Council and the Wood Works! Alberta Program, an affiliate member of the Truss Plate Institute of Canada, and a Certifying Partner with Partnerships in Injury Reduction.

WWTA Mission
The Mission of the WWTA is to:
- Support, promote and advocate for the wood truss industry
- Set standards of excellence for our industry through continuous development and support of
- Quality control procedures and programs
- Codes of Standard Practice in design and manufacturing
- Training and courses for industry employees
- Assist with the interpretation and implementation of relevant building design regulations
- Participate in the development of the Truss Plate Institute of Canada design procedures
